On the Preferences tab in the Settings dialog box, you can:

Join the ACT Community and define how to display your identity to community members.

Configure the Application Compatibility Manager to check for ACT product updates automatically.
To access the Preferences tab

On the Tools menu of the Application Compatibility Manager, click Settings.
The Settings dialog box appears.

Click the Preferences tab.
Joining the ACT Community
As a member of the ACT Community, you have the ability to anonymously share application compatibility data with other registered ACT users. After you click Send and Receive Data, you have the option to review your application compatibility data before you share it with the community.

If you elect not to join the ACT Community, you will still receive compatibility data from the Microsoft online database. However, you will not receive compatibility data from other ACT users. For more information about the ACT Community, see the ACT Community Technical Reference topics. |
To join the ACT Community

On the Preferences tab, select the Yes, I want to join the ACT Community check box, and then click Save.
To leave the ACT Community

Clear the Yes, I want to join the ACT Community check box, and then click Save.
Signing Up for ACT Updates
You can decide whether the Application Compatibility Manager should automatically check for Application Compatibility Toolkit product updates. If you sign up for automatic notification and the Application Compatibility Manager locates an update, you will receive a prompt to download the latest version.
To sign up for automatic notification of ACT updates

Select the Notify me when a newer version of ACT is available (recommended) check box, and then click Save.
To discontinue automatic notification of ACT updates

Clear the Notify me when a newer version of ACT is available (recommended) check box, and then click Save.
